Phycox uses the patented formula Phycox® which contains source of phycocyanin, a naturally derived inhibitor of antioxidants and COX-2, a form of non-steroidal inflammatory drug (NSAID). These are important for joint mobility and healthy bone structure. The product also contains Omega-3 Fatty acids, antioxidant protection, 450mg Glucosamine HCL, 400mg Methylsulfonylmethane and additional vitamins and minerals. Dosage begins with a 6 week loading dose depending on your dog’s size. Dogs 5 – 1 lb receive ½ chew daily increasing to ½ chew every other day for a maintenance dose. Dogs over 100lbs receive 5 chews daily for the loading dose and 2 ½ chews daily for the maintenance dose. The dose can be double for additional support during the loading period. Conclusion
For dogs with allergies, Phycox is also available in a hypoallergenic version. However in terms of the amount of active ingredients versus cost, there are other supplements on the market which may prove more competitive in terms of price. Phycox does however contain a highly concentrated source of phycocyanin for joint health not found in many other joint supplements.
